Schroffke! deconstructs using sound and silence as well as light and shadows. Andersen’s fairytale The Little Mermaid becomes a queer-fantastic story of transformation. Two researchers examine an extraordinary piece of meerschaum. Does it have anything to do with another form of life or inorganic material? They lose themselves in a web of narrative threads made up of the memories and myths of a sea creature and set off in search of its voice. Who is speaking, singing and screaming there? Undin is a sound piece in a thread installation that examines the moment of transformation between attribution and self-determination.

Schroffke! are Liesbeth Nenoff, Jo Posenenske and Franz Schrörs. During the last edition of Figure It Out last year at Westflügel Leipzig, they presented the first looks into their research The Truth You See Is Only A Projection which they conduct with Schaubude Berlin over the course of a #TakeHeart residency in which they conducted research into how sound can be animated in combination with projections.
The production Undin that was created from this can now be seen in this year’s edition in Berlin.
