Lecture Performance with Puppetry
Barbie is celebrating her 63rd
birthday and she hasn’t aged a bit. Slim and smooth, that is the story of her
success! But is Barbie also a feminist? At least, that’s what the PR message
from the company Mattel claims. She should be a new role model for girls,
moving away from playing like a mother with baby dolls and toward being a
self-determined woman. With her wasp waist and excessively long legs, however,
she has a body shape that no woman can ever achieve. Despite that, she still
influences the ideal image of femininity for many people up to the present day.
