In this multimedia object theatre, the narrative unfolds between artists in Berlin and the Gaza Strip at the same time and connects them to the audience who we invite to inspire our story cosmos already one week before the show takes place.

Our project is inspired by the character of Sheherazade from »A Thousand and One Nights« who was able to delay her death sentence by continuing to narrate stories night after night. Only when her narrations keep the traumatized and women-hating sultan under their spell, will she survive. Can she proof literature to be a life support measure and thus ›of systemic importance‹? Or will she lose her head on the scaffold (or by a coffee squeezer or a garlic press)? Not only the sultan, but also the audience decides whether she may continue narrating her tales: with and without words, in English, German, Arabic, and fantasy language, with music, and above all via moving images and objects. On a miniature object theatre stage and simultaneously on a projection screen, artists from the Gaza Strip and from Berlin perform live theatre across borders.

The events take place as live streams. We welcome you to our virtual foyer on Zoom before the performance and invite you to an audience discussion with the artists after the stream. To participate, you must download the Zoom software and agree to its privacy policy. You will receive the access link by e-mail up to one hour before the performance begins.
