Who: Us
Where: In our heads while we take in our news feeds
When: Every day
What: Our daily dose of populism

In this performance, the space is the protagonist. It is a symbol and a miniature of our inner lives. And it is irritated. Our space has become deformed and misappropriated through influences from the outside – specifically by the populist politics that scream at us from the various media, vying for our attention. Our room increasingly withdraws from the tried and tested rules.

Supported by music and foley art, the space takes on its own life: what is being swept under the rug? What do the walls look like underneath the wallpaper? What is happening outside in front of the window and can you just close the curtains? Words are still spoken – collections of text inspired by populism patter constantly against the panes of our resonant space from the outside, slowly forcing their way through the cracks in the masonry.

NOISE is an artistic coming to terms with populism and the attempt to capture an alienating feeling.
This production is the thesis production of Almut Schäfer-Kubelka and Sven Tillmann.
