Artificial Bodies

How does digital transformation change our ideas and our images of bodies? The artistic positions of "Theatre of Things 2020" use hybrids, robots, puppets and their own skin to search for new forms of physicality.

Programme update: TDDdigital

Despite the renewed theatre closures, this year's edition of the international festival of contemporary figure and object theatre will take place from November 3 to 10, 2020. Artists present projects on the theme of "Artificial Bodies" online, on the phone and as downloads. Workshops and exchange formats complement this special edition of the festival, which is suitable for lockdown.

There will also be a series of festival releases until the end of February 2021: It is planned to catch up on the productions "Wetware" and "Wax-En" as well as the installations created for Theater der Dinge 2020 at a later date.

Festival blog

Essays, interviews, pictures and reflections on the festival programme are soon to be found at www.theaterderdinge.com.

Digital foyer

Every festival needs a foyer. This year, a Telegram group will offer a digital foyer with the opportunity to exchange ideas, toast via gif, and access the latest information about the festival. Invitation link from the end of October 2020.

Audio description

Impressions of the festival programme for blind and visually impaired people can be found this year on the social media channels of the Schaubude Berlin and on the festival blog: Explorations with introductions by the artistic director Tim Sandweg and audio descriptions by Anke Nicolai are available for the installations "Earthbounds" and the exhibition "Weak Transmission".

Digital Foyer

This year, the festival foyer will be virtual in a telegram group. The invitation link will be announced during the online events.
