The Dystopian Salon

Since 2015, the Salon collective (Franziska Dittrich, Leonie Euler, Markus Joss, Julia Plickat and Tim Sandweg) has been hosting the ongoing series “The Dystopian Salon,” aimed at engaging in joint exchange and artistic experiments.

Together with guest artists from the sphere of contemporary figure and object theatre and the audience, the format “Salon” comes to life during the performative-discursive evenings. An opportunity to get to know different artistic perspectives, to help shape them and to have a meal together.

The playful arrangements, experiments and installations can only be seen on the respective evening.

Where is paradise - in lost gardens in the Middle East, in the afterlife or directly on your doorstep? How do I get in? And will I ever get out? Has the apple become a fig and the tree of knowledge long since dried up? And isn't the fall of man actually a relief? Go on a search in urban space: with radio plays, interviews, and sounds from the Garden of Eden.

The end is near - and always has been. But how will it happen? Or has it already taken place? Is there hope? This is what Apocalypses recount. This popular narrative form has shaped our imagination since antiquity, through Christian belief to science fiction. And it is once again omnipresent in times of climate catastrophe. With scenic experiments, conversations with experts, and a meal together, the salon collective explores the dramaturgy of the end of the world and asks what comes afterwards.

How do things actually age? Do they have a problem with it? Who is allowed to be restored and who gets disposed of? And is that all so different from humans? With a joint meal, stage experiments, and discussions with experts, the Salon-Kollektiv is looking for an unusual perspective on aging. And by the end of the second season of "The Dystopian Salon", the mini-puppet series "My Castle I Am" is also coming to an end.
