Puppetry
Over recent years, French puppeteer and director Renaud Herbin has been constantly pushing the boundaries of animation to develop a consistent form for the multi-layered visual poetics in his works. »Quelque chose s'attendrit«/ »Something Softens« is one of his latest experiments with form, and is a short image-sound poem where gravity is reversed. A puppet comes together to join with the performance potential of light and archaic principles of optics. The audience walks around a fascinating set made from lenses, transforming the three-dimensional puppet into a two-dimensional shadow. It is a waking dream between clarity and fuzziness, a dance of puppet and human hand, and a most unusual theatre experience.
Information about the accessibility of the venue in structural terms can be found here. No seating; the audience can move freely throughout the space.
