BREAKDOWN: Program series of the media and performance group OutOfTheBox on artistic creation at the interface of theater and digitality.

For many years, independent groups and artists in the performative arts have been independently acquiring (post)digital skills and integrating them into their artistic practice. The use of digital technologies and (post)digital staging methods has significantly changed the way those theater formats are developed and received. The different artistic approaches and working methods are as diverse as the independent scene itself.

The program series BREAKDOWN makes it possible to deepen the transfer of such ways of working and to strengthen the visibility and networking of artists among themselves. The format is aimed at interdisciplinary artists from the independent scene who intensively deal with (post)digital practices such as creative coding, software development, interaction design, physical computing, XR design and game design in their artistic work.

Under the program leadership of the media and performance group OutOfTheBox, practice-oriented network meetings invite participants to share needs, challenges and ideas for work at the intersection of theater and digitality and to participate in the development of new communities of the independent (post)digital scene.

We invite you to open the black box of your work and share your digital practice with each other. At each network meeting, we will have guests who will give short inputs and insights into their current work-in-progress.
