A pioneer of emancipation – that's Barbie, according to R. Handler, who launched her on the market 60 years ago. Barbie was supposed to counter the baby dolls used to prepare girls for the role of mother and housewife with the image of a modern woman: independent, upright, attractive. However, for the body shape, Handler chose idealised proportions, which are beyond the reach of girls. Why is the "Barbie" dream still so attractive today? Who defines ideals? And how do we free ourselves from them?
