The event takes place as a live stream. We welcome you in our virtual foyer on Zoom before the performance and invite you to a Q&A with the artists after the stream. You will receive the access link by e-mail on the day of the event. In order to participate, the Zoom software must be downloaded and you must agree to its privacy policy.

The cooperation between FILM RISS THEATER and artists in the Gaza Strip began three years ago. It began with a beamer brought to Gaza, which unfortunately has now been destroyed together with the Al Maishal Theatre in an air raid, and led to the development of a new theatre format. It turned the "Improvisionen", which have been combining object theatre with multimedia improvisation at the Schaubude since 2018, into a livestream overband game. Long before Corona.

The highlight was the production "Hemingway. Gaza. Big Fish", in which Hemingway's famous novella was set in a new context. What if the fisherman Santiago, who hasn't caught a fish for a long time, lived in Gaza? What would his "Big Fish" be in Gaza, where fishermen are forbidden to go further than 5 miles out to sea? What would he have to do to land it? Or does he pull it far out - to the other shore?

These and other questions we want to pursue via zoom with interested people from all over the world. Whether you have seen the play that premiered in January 2019 is not important. In the livestream we show live and retrospective samples of our way of working and look forward to the connection to Gaza. What is the situation there with regard to theatre, health and in general? Does the experience with (political) lockdown in times of medical emergency help? Is theatre even conceivable? And what is the "big fish" that needs to be dealt with there at the moment?
