They seduce us, we want to have them, touch them, consume them. The new smartphone, a beguiling fragrance, the slice of cream cake or a hand-flattering stone. They also enrich our romantic and love lives: red roses, wedding rings, leather whips, silk lingerie, vibrators, love letters.

With which objects do we create intimacy – with others or ourselves? How exactly do they do us good? Why can’t we get away from them, even if they don’t do us any good? How do things embody longing and connection? What theatrical figures lie dormant in these objects, waiting to be awakened?

The online workshop Theory Café invites you to exchange and reflect on the body and its things. In a cosy, relaxed atmosphere, we start from our current experiences and deepen them through small theoretical readings and creative exercises.

The Theory Café, initiated in the frame of Theater der Dinge as a reading group on the topic of “artificial bodies”, takes place as a video chat.
