In “Loops & Hoops”, the large-scale sporting event Spartakiade becomes the point of departure for a reflection upon everyday life in Czechoslovakia during the period of so-called normalization. Using fascinating scenography and a stage the size of an old television, the production examines uniformity and monotony, assimilation and personal freedom, nostalgia kitsch and nostalgia criticism.
