Festival Theater der Dinge

Our festival “Theater der Dinge” is one of the most important events for contemporary puppet and object theater in Germany. With an annually changing thematic focus, it reflects current trends and tendencies in the genre for one week each autumn, exploring border areas and focusing on experimentation at the interfaces with the sister arts. Invitations are extended to productions, installations and exhibitions that are characterised by a unique artistic language, idiosyncratic aesthetic quality and urgency of content.

In 2026, it will take place for the 15th time (October 30–November 5, 2026) and celebrate its anniversary with a special edition focusing on the theme “The world as a model.”
