Puppet theater based on Lion Feuchtwanger
A tableau spanning centuries emerges through the interplay of performers and marionettes, inspired by Lion Feuchtwanger’s historical novel. As Muslim and Christian kingdoms on the Iberian Peninsula struggle for power, the Jewish merchant Jehuda Ibn Esra advocates for a peaceful and culturally flourishing Castile. The love between his daughter Raquel and the king appears to offer a glimmer of hope yet ultimately throws everything into turmoil. When the war ends in catastrophe, Jewish people are turned into scapegoats.
