“Transport: Frontline” puts the audience in the middle of a warzone, where they become witnesses to the events and the humanitarian disaster through the lens of a wartime photographer. In doing so, the camera does not only become the tool of documentation – much more, it stands symbolically for perspective, responsibility and moral reflection. With its production, the Estonian Theatre for Young Audiences explores the limits of performativity: when does an image create space for sympathy and when does it slide into the aestheticization of suffering? How does the media gaze shape our perception of conflicts?

“Transport” is a six-part theater series that has been celebrated across Europe that concerns itself with the effects of mobility in a globalized world. All productions use individually created scenographies consisting of realistically designed spaces, buildings, streets and public infrastructure that are inhabited by 3D printed characters. An immersive experience for the audience is created with a performance style oriented around animated films and a 3D soundscape.
