Can we take part in the economic system game? Or are we just pieces being moved around the board? Do we have the opportunity to create changes through our decisions?

Trickster-p, a regular part of Theater der Dinge, are back again! After exciting the Berlin audience with a performative board game three years ago, they are offering up a playful model for society with “The Game“. In doing so, they expose economic dynamics and organizational structures: in small groups, the participants establish their own farms on the playing board. The refined rules of the game provide an introduction to the conditions of modern economies and force the players to forge a path between profit maximization and ecological and ethical values.

“The Game” is a participatory performance: audience members play in several groups and carry out moves on a game board according to a set of rules. Conversations and discussions among audience members are part of the performance. Participation is required in order to attend, but audience members decide for themselves how intensively they participate.
