“My body in its room and I – we are well connected. Everything is really OK, I think. But I feel disconnected…” In this scenic experiment, a lonely actor enters into dialogue with a digital counterpart and, in doing so, falls deeper and deeper into a rabbit hole made up of virtual closeness and real distance. The production opens up a stage for the struggle to achieve real connections in a digital age.

Elena Sofie Böhler completed her studies in visual theater and puppetry at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Künste Stuttgart (the University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart) in 2024 with Asking for a Friend. In her Bachelor’s project, she examines friendships with chatbots and asks what changes in a society in which relationships with AIs become an everyday thing.
