Object Theater
An unplugged machine is sitting in a small, cold garage in Berlin. It waits. Alone. Until light falls on its metal skin. Eyes, an audience. No script, no one who is going to ask anything of it. And yet it still begins to move. What drives a machine to create something? Where does autonomy begin – and where does it fall apart?
The performer, media artist and director Luit Bakker conducts research into the infinity of the unknown associatively, humorously and irritatingly in her projects. In Drawn, a work for the 2025 edition of Theater der Dinge, an industrial object slowly transforms into something else – into something that searches, hesitates, fails and feels? This is a performance about art, mechanics and the uncertain border between the human and the artificial.
