Since 2007, we have been offering an annual workshop for the international literature festival berlin (ilb) in the children’s and youth literature section. A joint production of children from a Berlin elementary school, puppeteers and a theater teacher from Schaubude Berlin. The workshop takes up the themes of the selected book and empowers the pupils to realize their own ideas and thoughts creatively and scenically and to find a personal connection to the book.

The final presentation represents a very intensive encounter between the children and the artists. The resulting visual and scenic material and a hand-signed book will remain in the schools for a long time as a reminder of a special kind of theater experience.

3-year partnership with a Berlin school

TUSCH – Theater and School is a cooperation network for cultural education that arranges, supports and promotes partnerships between Berlin schools and theaters.

TUSCH opens up encounters with young people and their interests, experiences and living environments for Berlin’s stages and theater artists, from which new theatrical aesthetic and thematic impulses for theater work can arise. The program makes an important contribution to cultural education by promoting the active and full participation of young people in the cultural life of the city and anchoring theater as a natural part of everyday school life.

TUKI – Theater & Kita has been initiating and designing partnerships between theaters and daycare centers throughout Berlin since 2011, focusing on bringing the very youngest children into contact with the performing arts. The Schaubude Berlin has been a partner of the TUKI-Tandem project since 2011.
