A struggle for emancipation that is as obscenely violent as society was back during the German Imperial Era: after the murder of her father and her child, Helga has disappeared from her arranged marriage with the Duke. Has she run away? Was she murdered? The Duke is haunted by her and by his own desires. The boundaries between reality and madness blur. This is a production that has been adapted from the novel “The Sufferings of Prince Sternenhoch” by Ladislav Klíma (1928) about the patriarchical repression in which there can be no winners.

Lovefuckers was founded in the early summer of 2009 and set itself the goal of continuing to search for love, even in the abyss where everything suffers, in order to give just a little bit of shine to all of the dirt. They search for ways out of the current condition of the world using all performative means. The play The Truth About Helga was created over the course of a #TakeCare residency at Schaubude Berlin in the beginning of 2021. In this production, they are working with the Berlin doom metal band NADJA for the first time.

Laberfeuer. (Talking Around A Campfire) In the light of the fire, we will discuss collective work and methods of creating work after the performance together with the artists of the production over a glass of herbal lemonade.
