It is only seldom that the users of digital platforms know that an international team is working in the background and jumping in when the algorithm fails or even acts as a “pseudo AI”. With In Ghosts We Trust, OutOfTheBox is dedicating itself to the topic of “ghost work”: based on interviews, they make working for platforms able to be experienced by the audience in a playful manner using an interactive installation.

After the start of the performance, late admission is not possible. The participants move through the setting independently and individually. Tasks must be read from the tablet. Instructions for action are also given via the headphones. Among other things, typical AI training tasks are asked, including answering certain questions about visual material in b/w - which is partially pixelated and alienated - in a YES/NO manner, including about body parts and genitals. There is also work with a large-form, partly flickering projection screen as well as loud music in the room. A note about accessibility: You can find information about the physical accessibility of the performance venue here.
