Shadow and paper theatre and drama by Ingmar Bergman, translated by Renate Bleibtreu
This year's in-house production by Schaubude Berlin interprets Ingmar Bergman's opulent film classic using a modern Laterna magica. Iduna Hegen, Karoline Hoffmann and Pierre Schäfer combine use of a magic video table with shadow and toy theatre, pop-up books and projections, and their bodies and voices to tell the story of two children in search of their place in the adult world. An intense story about truth and lies, reality and fiction.
Accessibility: Large-format video projections are used as part of the production. Loud music is played on occasion. It looks at the themes of death and corporal punishment.
