The Theory Café, initiated in the frame of Theater der Dinge as a reading group on the topic of "artificial bodies", takes place as a video chat. You will receive the access link by e-mail on the day of the event. In order to participate, the software Zoom must be downloaded and its privacy policy must be agreed to.

Bodies are open and permeable. Because they are sensitive, they are also vulnerable. To absorb this vulnerability, bodies need things to protect them - from the inside as well as from the outside. These can be bike helmets, masks, artificial hips, warm clothes or migraine tablets.

Based on our own everyday experience of needing protection, we ask for exactly these objects. What do they enable us to do - and what do they prevent? How do we shield ourselves, where do we take refuge? How do we endanger others with our need for security? And which fictitious patron saints would we like to invent?

The online workshop Theory Café invites exchange and reflection on the body and its things. In a cosy and stimulating atmosphere we start from our current experiences and deepen them through short theoretical readings and creative exercises.
